Workspaces and Team Access
A Workspace is a shared Testzilla account for your team. Instead of everyone working in one personal login, you create a workspace, invite teammates into it with a role, and switch into it from the account menu. Everything you build inside a workspace — projects, channels, tests, credits, and billing — belongs to the workspace, not to any one person.
Your own personal account is always there too, shown as My Account in the switcher. Workspaces sit alongside it: you can belong to several and move between them without signing out.
The Workspace switcher
Section titled “The Workspace switcher”Open the account menu in the app and choose Select Workspace. The switcher lists:
- My Account — your personal account.
- Workspaces — every workspace you are a member of, each showing your role. Click Switch to enter one.
- Pending invites — workspaces you have been invited to but not yet joined, each with Accept or Decline.
When you have unaccepted invites, an alert badge with the invite count appears on the Workspaces entry in the navigation, so a new invite does not go unnoticed.
Switch into a workspace
Section titled “Switch into a workspace”Click Switch next to a workspace in the switcher. Testzilla shows a “Switching…” label with a progress spinner while it moves you in. You stay signed in as yourself the whole time; switching only changes which account you are acting inside. Once you are in, every project, channel, test, and run you create belongs to that workspace, and the workspace’s own credits and plan apply.
To go back, open the switcher again and choose My Account or another workspace.
Accept or decline an invite
Section titled “Accept or decline an invite”When someone invites you, you get an invite email with an accept link, and (if you already have a Testzilla account) the invite also appears under Invitations in your switcher. Choose Accept to join the workspace, or Decline to turn it down. Until you accept, you show up in that workspace’s Members list marked (pending).
Create a workspace
Section titled “Create a workspace”-
Open the switcher and create
From the account menu, choose Select Workspace, then Create Workspace. Give it a name (usually your team, company, or product).
-
Land on the setup page
Testzilla drops you straight into the new workspace on a short setup page headed Your workspace “<name>” is ready (with your workspace’s name). From here you can pick a plan, Invite your team, or Skip for now.
-
Invite or skip
There is no hard paywall on a new workspace. Skip for now lands you in the workspace Dashboard immediately. The workspace stays free until you run your first test — that first billable run is where a plan is required (see subscriptions and the run gate).
Invite members
Section titled “Invite members”Open Workspace Settings (the settings icon next to a workspace, or Invite your team on the setup page), then use Invite a member:
-
Enter the email in the Email field.
-
Choose a role from the role dropdown. It offers Admin, Operator, or Viewer (default Operator); see roles below. Owner is not offered here — it is assigned by Testzilla, not through the invite picker.
-
Add a personal message (optional) — the Personal message (optional) field is included in the invite email to the recipient.
-
Click Invite. Every invitee gets an invite email with an accept link, including people who already have a Testzilla account (who also see the invite on-site in their switcher). Until they accept, they appear in the Members list marked (pending).
Pending and declined invites
Section titled “Pending and declined invites”Invites you send stay visible in the Members list until they are resolved, so you can always see who has not yet joined:
- Pending — the person has been invited but has not responded. The row is marked (pending). Use Cancel invite to withdraw the invite before it is accepted.
- Declined — the person turned the invite down. Rather than vanishing without a trace, the row stays in the roster marked declined the invitation, so an Owner or Admin can see that the invite was declined. A declined row offers Re-invite (send a fresh invite) and Delete invite (dismiss the record — this only clears it from the list; it grants and revokes no access).
Re-invite on a declined row reuses the same record: their row flips back to pending rather than creating a duplicate. Cancelling a pending invite, re-inviting, and dismissing a declined one are all Owner/Admin actions.
Each member has one role on the workspace, which controls what they can do inside it:
| Role | For |
|---|---|
| Owner | The workspace owner. Full control; assigned when the workspace is created and cannot be removed while they are the only Owner. |
| Admin | Full management of projects, channels, tests, members, and billing. |
| Operator | Runs and manages tests, but is not the account owner. |
| Viewer | Read-only access to the workspace’s projects and results. |
The workspace Owner or an Admin can change a member’s role or remove a member from the Members list in Workspace Settings.
Change a role, remove a member, or leave
Section titled “Change a role, remove a member, or leave”- Change a role. In Workspace Settings, open the Members list and pick a new role for a member. An Owner or Admin can do this. The last Owner cannot be demoted while they are the only Owner.
- Remove a member. From the same Members list, remove someone. Their access to the workspace ends immediately.
- Leave a workspace. Any member can exit a workspace they belong to; you leave from the workspace, and it disappears from your switcher. You keep your personal account and any other workspaces. The only Owner cannot leave (last-Owner protection) — ownership has to be reassigned first, which Testzilla handles through support rather than a self-serve transfer.
Billing contact
Section titled “Billing contact”A workspace has a Billing contact email (defaults to the Owner) where Stripe sends receipts. Set it in Workspace Settings.
Related
Section titled “Related”- Account and Settings — credits, billing, and the subscribe-first run gate.
- Creating Projects — the testing hierarchy that lives inside a workspace.
